Superlatives in Illinois High School Basketball Sectional Finals Tonight!!!!!

I was at the Bartlett Sectional Final and the internet was out so could not give out updates, nor did I know what the rest of the State was up to. So I just watched and did video and pictures I will load up later. This was the last game on a high school floor for Glenbard West as they now move to college sized gyms. A special group and a special team. Will be interesting to se how effective their 1-3-1 half out zone is on a bigger floor. Kenwood Academy and Glenbrook South won their first ever Sectional Titles, while Lemont won it's first since 1975, and Glenbard West won it's first since 2007. Lots of history made tonight in the Sectionals. Downstate Quincy upset Normal Community in Class 4A.

#1 Glenbard West(Glen Ellyn) 68 #5 Wheaton Warrenville South 41: This game was close for just over a half. Glenbard West had a bunch of steals in their 1-3-1 press and half court zone to lead 24-7 after the end of 1. Junior forward Braylen Meredith committed 3 fouls in the first 4 in a half minutes of the game. Seemed like they took their foot off the gas as they did not score for 4 minutes in the second quarter and almost let Wheaton Warrenville South back in the game. Glenbard West only scored 6 points in the second quarter but still led 30-17. Gonzaga commit Braden Huff and senior guard Bobby Durkin took over the third quarter and led 53-30 at the end of the third. Glenbard West went on a 7-4 run at start of the fourth quarter to go up 60-34 and game over. Glenbard West advances to Monday's Supersectional in a rematch with Larkin(Elgin).
