Kentucky targets at Peach Jam Part 3

Updated: Jul 20, 2019

These are the Class of 2021 targets at the Peach Jam:

JONATHAN KUMINGA(NEW YORK RENS)- Class of 2021 6’8” wing proved at the Peach Jam he is the #1 player in this class. He did everything, finished at the rim, showed good vision, hit threes, defended very well(shut down Terrence Clarke till he received his 4th foul): He was a two end monster all week and put his stamp as the toughest player in the class: I was told by a source he’s moving to Texas for this coming schools year( his brother transferred from UNLV to Texas Tech). This will have a huge impact on his recruitment. Look for Texas Tech to be a huge player going forward. He’s also talking about a possible reclassification to Class of 2020. Kentucky, Duke, Nebraska, Xavier, Georgia, Texas Tech, Alabama, and Marquette are involved. Look for a host of other schools to jump into the mix.

TERRENCE CLARKE(EXPRESSIONS ELITE)- Class of 2021 6’7” wing showed his versatility all week. He can run an offense, penetrates, finishes at the rim, and is a good three point shooter. He gives an honest effort on the defensive end and can guard three positions: He has talked about reclassification to Class of 2020, but his Travel Coach thinks it could be problematic academically. Kentucky is highly involved. Here’s a video detailing his recruitment:

PAOLO BANCHERO(SEATTLE ROTARY)- Class of 2021 6’9” forward showed a versatile game in the two viewings I saw. He showed he can bring the ball down the court, set up an offense, post up game, and is a great passer. He did not attempt any shots from outside the paint in the games I saw. I have seen him shoot threes before so he can hit the shot. Here he is winning MVP at the NBPA Top 100 camp in Charlottesville, VA: Kentucky, Washington, Duke, North Carolina, Gonzaga, Tennessee and a host of others. His Mom is a former Washington Huskies basketball star that held the All-Time school scoring record for nine years. His Dad played football for Washington so look for the Huskies to be very involved.

I did not get to see Kentucky targets Class of 2020 Cliff Omoruyi and Class of 2020 Cam’Ron Fletcher as they were playing in the Peach Jam Invitational not the Peach Jam Finals.

Class of 2022 target:

EMONI BATES(BATES FUNDAMENTALS)- Class of 2022 6’10” wing was impressive again in the 15U division. I saw him three times over the week, the last time he scored 44 points in a loss in Quarterfinals to Each One Teach One: I wrote about him being the best freshman I’ve ever seen: His skill level, foot work, long range shooting(he hit three 30 footers in a game I saw), and defensive potential is off the charts. It is assumed he’s going to the NBA out of high school, but wants offers in case he reclassifies to Class of 2021 and goes to college for a year. Michigan and Michigan State have offered. Kentucky has shown interest.
