Evanston Township gets revenge ambushes #10 Glenbrook North!!! News and notes!!!! Top performances!!

Evanston Township gets a big win on their home court and evens the series against Glenbrook North tonight in Central Suburban South Showdown.

Evanston Township 64 #10 Glenbrook North (Northbrook) 58: The first game Evanston turned the ball over 25 times in a 12 point loss in Northbrook. They turned the tables by cutting down on turnovers and giving 5'9" junior point guard Brandon Watson a lot of minutes. Evanston and Glenbrook South were tied at 11 at end of first quarter with a Fridman jumper on the baseline at first quarter buzzer. Evanston led 26-22 at half. They still led 45-33 at end of third quarter. Evanston scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to lead 50-33 with 6 minutes to go. Glenbrook North takes timeout and then outscored Evanston 25-11 to cut the lead to 61-58 with about 50 seconds left. The lead shrank because Evanston missed over half their free throws down the stretch. Glenbrook North attacked the lane when Prince Adams was out of the game and when he fouled out with about a minute to go in the game. Evanston hit four free throws and Glenbrook North missed a couple of threes and a put back for the final margin.

I don't do +/- but I would imagine he was about a plus 14 in this game. The offense ran smoothly when he came off the bench. Each time he did the game changed into Evanston's favor. Watson had 5 points 3 rebounds 3 assists and 2 steals. Stats don't tell the entire story as he put pressure on star junior point guard Josh Fridman on the ball. Things just moved smoother with him in the lineup.

PRINCE ADAMS RIM PROTECTING: He had 7 blocked shots before fouling out to go with his 14 points 11 rebounds (double/double) 4 assists. The 6'6" senior forward continues his outstanding season with 6 of 12 from the floor. Played most of the game out of the post and did step out and hit a three.

JONAH ROSS GOT HOT IN THE SECOND HALF: The 6'1"senior guard hit 4 of 5 from three in the second half, 3 of them in the third quarter. One of them in the fourth quarter pushed the lead out to 50-33 and the timeout for Glenbrook North. He hit 5 threes altogether for his 16 points.

JOSH FRIDMAN WAS OUTSTANDING ONCE AGAIN: The 5'9" junior point guard for Glenbrook North hit some clutch shots to get them back in the game. He had 27 points on 5 of 5 from three point range. He was 5 of 10 from two point range and hit a shot from the baseline at the end of the first quarter. Scored almost half of his teams points tonight.

JOSH THOMAS ONCE AGAIN SLOWED DOWN RYAN COHEN: Thomas, a 6'6" senior forward for Evanston Township, guarded the Washington University St Louis commit and helped hold him to 7 points tonight.

EVANSTON TOWNSHIP HELPED THEIR SEEDING TONIGHT: Beating Glenbrook North even though it was at home, may have moved their seeding line up one especially with Glenbrook South losing twice this week.

Evanston Township ups it's record to 17-6, 4-3 in the conference while Glenbrook North (Northbrook) dropped to 21-3, 5-2 in conference and into second place behind New Trier (Winnetka).
