Big Tim's Elite 25 in Chicago Area Week 8!!!!!!

A new number one in a weird week. A player scored a basket with 5 fouls and a fight broke out in a shootout tonight that ended the game in third quarter. Short synopsis on these teams. Lots of ranked teams losing makes this the week with the most ranking changes. Here we go:

1) Kenwood Academy (Chicago) (15-2) (4A): First time in their schools history having this ranking. Beat previous #1 Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) on their home court, then a controversial win at home against Curie (Chicago). They have the upper hand in the Chicago Public League Red South/Central. Big time game on Friday against nationally ranked Camden (NJ) at DePaul University then at #4 Benet Academy (Chicago) at When Sides Collide.

2) Whitney Young (Chicago) (15-4) (4A): Took care of business this week. Senior wing Daniel Johnson consistently putting up double/doubles getting some division one attention from college coaches. Plays #7 West (Joliet) at When Sides Collide on Saturday at Benet Academy (Lisle).

3) Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) (15-1) (3A): Lost at home to previous #3 Kenwood Academy (Chicago) then won a national game in Springfield (MA). Plays Moline at When Sides Collide on Saturday at Benet Academy (Lisle).

4) Benet Academy (Lisle) (19-1) (4A): Rolling along through their schedule as they have a showdown with #1 Kenwood Academy (Chicago) as they host the When Sides Collide on Saturday.

5) Rolling Meadows (19-2) (4A): Rolled over Schaumburg, Wheeling and Evanston Township hitting 16 threes in that game. Plays Brother Rice (Chicago) at When Sides Collide at Benet Academy (Lisle) on Saturday.

6) Hillcrest (Country Club Hills) (17-2) (3A): Easy wins over Bremen and Reavis. Visits Lemont on Tuesday in huge conference showdown.

7) West (Joliet) (15-5) (4A): Lost to East (Oswego). Plays #2 Whitney Young (Chicago) at When Sides Collide at Benet Academy (Lisle) on Saturday.

8) Lincoln Way East (Frankfort) (16-1) (4A): Beat Bloom Township (Chicago Heights) in two overtimes.

9) Brother Rice (Chicago) (18-2) (4A): Plays #5 Rolling Meadows at When Sides Collide at Benet Academy (Lisle) on Saturday.

10) Mount Carmel (Chicago) (17-2) (3A): Lost to Bloom Township (Chicago Heights)

11) New Trier (Winnetka) (17-3) (4A): Beat Maine South (Park Ridge) for Coach Scott Frike's 300th win. Showdown on Friday at 15-3)#12 Glenbrook North (Northbrook).

12) Glenbrook North (Northbrook) (17-2) (4A): Beat Niles West (Skokie), beat North (Grayslake). Showdown on Friday hosting #11 New Trier (Winnetka).

13) Hinsdale Central (16-3) (4A): Beat Proviso West (Hillside) and North (St Charles).

14) Lyons Township (LaGrange) (16-2) (4A): Lost to Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn), beat DeKalb and Marian Central.

15) Proviso East (Maywood) (14-2) (4A): Beat WIllowbrook, and Curie (Chicago) (game ended in third quarter both teams fighting, they were leading at the time so...).

16) St ignatius College Prep (Chicago) (14-5) (3A): Beat Montini (Lombard), Lost to Loyola Academy (Wilmette) in Jesuit Cup.

17) Glenbrook South (Glenview) (15-4) (4A): Beat Evanston Township.

18) North (Downers Grove) (15-3) (4A): Righted the ship this week with win over Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn).

19) Hyde Park Academy (Chicago) (15-4) (3A): Lost to #3 Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) and to Northview (Grand Rapids, MI) in Michigan.

20) St Rita (Chicago) (10-8) (4A): Brutal schedule went 1-2 at the Bass Pro Tournament in Springfield, MO playing against national level teams.

21) Bloom Township (Chicago Heights) (12-5) (4A): With all the shuffling they move up a spot even though they lost to #8 Lincoln Way East in double overtime. They beat #10 Mount Carmel (Chicago).

22) Lemont (16-4) (3A): Lost to Oak Lawn shorthanded. Big time game on Tuesday hosting #6 Hillcrest (Country Club Hills)

23) Curie (Chicago) (13-6) (4A): Lost to #1 Kenwood Academy (Chicago) in a controversial way, then lost (?) to #15 Proviso East (Maywood) (game ended in third quarter both teams fighting, they was down 2 at the time so....).

24) East (Oswego) (17-4) (4A): Back in poll as they beat #7 West (Joliet).

25) Thornton Fractional North (Calumet City) (11-2): Back in the poll. Hosts Evergreen Park on Tuesday.

Central (Grayslake) and Barrington drop out.
