Big Tim's Elite 25 Players In Chicago Area!!!!!!!!
Updated: Apr 12, 2021
This is my 2nd annual All-Area team. As usual great talent on this team and very accomplished for shortened season. Co-Players of the Year this year. Some do not have division one offers because of the NCAA rule giving every player an extra year. Chicago Public League coaches for the most part cooperated with statistics for their players. Thanks to all the coaches and administrators for turning in information on their players. Team rankings are Big Tim's area rankings. With that said, here we go:
MAX CHRISTIE JR (Rolling Meadows) 6'7" senior guard - Repeat selection. Co-Player Of The Year. McDonald's All-American was outstanding all year long. All time leading scorer in Mid Suburban Conference history with exactly 2100 points. All time leading scorer in Rolling Meadows history. Led team to an undefeated(15-0) abbreviated season and #3 ranking. Michigan State commit is a gifted offensive player who can score on all three levels. He's a knockdown three point shooter, has a nice spin move to get to the basket and finish with either hand, and nasty two dribble pull-up from mid range. He averaged 25 points, 10 rebounds(double/double), 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks a game. He was also 91 percent from the foul line which is a school record. He filled out the stat sheet while leading the Mustangs to their first Mid Suburban Conference title in 30 years. Christie also hit a couple of half court shots this year to end quarters.
BRYCE HOPKINS(Fenwick, Oak Park) 6'7" senior wing - Repeat selection. Co-Player Of The Year. Kentucky commit did it all this season for the Friars. Tony Lawless Award Winner( Player of the Year in Chicago Catholic League). Second year in a row he has won the award. Double/double machine. Team played in the Chipotle Clash Of Champions getting to the Semifinals. He averaged 24.4 points, 12.5 rebounds(double/double), 2.9 assists, 1.8 steals, 1.5 blocks per game. He was 32% from three, 66% from two, and 76% from the free throw line. He's a load to deal with playing point guard a lot of the time this season. Position-less player has a nice first step driving to the basket, and is strong enough to finish through contact and double teams. He can hit the mid range pull-up jumper with efficiency. He exploded onto the scene his sophomore year making the starting lineup.
TY JOHNSON, DePaul Prep(Chicago) 6'2" senior point guard- Repeat selection. Loyola Chicago commit. He is one of the biggest sleepers in the Chicago Area in a long time. Power 6 level recruit headed to a Mid Major. Had an outstanding senior season leading his team to the Chipotle Clash of Champions title. Undisputed leader of the #2 team in Chicago Area. Averaged 20.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.9 steals a game. He can score on all three levels with a lethal three point shot, nice floater from mid range, and above the rim finisher at the basket. Tough defender who gives the opposing guards fits with his pressure defense. All-Chicago Catholic League.

ISAIAH BARNES, Simeon(Chicago) 6'7" senior wing - Michigan commit shot the three ball at a high level this year. Is the classic wing that can guard all front court positions on the high school level. Team went 9-1 with only loss to Evanston Township in Chipotle Clash of Champions. Chicago Public League South/Central Champs. Made Chicago Sun Times All-City Team. Lost in Quarterfinals of Chipotle Clash of Champions partly because Enright was out with injury. Four year starter. Team was North Suburban Champion. Sacrificed a lot of his offensive ability to run the show and get others involved. Team ended up ranked 7th in the Chicago Area. Made Lake County All-Area Team as Team Captain.
