Big Tim's Chicago Area Elite 25 Player Of The Year!!!!! Braden Huff of Glenbard West!!!!!!
There were a lot of deserving candidates this year. I always wait till after the postseason is over before saying who my Player Of The Year is. Most have excellent years and they state playoffs separate guys. I used the entire body of work which includes crunch time(State Playoffs). This year I'm going with Braden Huff of State Champion Glenbard West(Glen Ellyn).
BRADEN HUFF(Glenbard West, Glen Ellyn)- Gonzaga commit. Repeat selection. A 6'11" guard, forward, center, his statistics are not eye popping. Alot of the reason is he plays for a team that has three other players that average double figures. He stepped it up every time they needed him, which was usually against a big time opponent. Played on Class 4A State Champ who's team did not lose to an Illinois team all season. They only lost one game and he played well in that one. He outplayed McDonald's All-American USC commit Kijani Wright of Sierra Canyon(CA). Team went 37-1. West Suburban Conference Player Of The Year. He is the de facto point guard on this team at times. Can hit the three pointer, can score on clever moves inside with the left(natural hand) or right hand. Great passer out of the post, and protects the rim. Averaged 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.5 steals,1.5 blocks per game on 70% from 2, 40% from three, 62% overall field goal percentage, 78% from the free throw line. He runs the floor well changing ends on offense and defense. He played about 25 minutes a game because of the blowouts in most of Glenbard West games. Great leader, great teammate, and sacrificed a lot of his statistics for the group. It's a crime he's not Top 100 on ESPN or Rivals rankings nationally. He's 95th in the 247 sports rankings. Congrats to Braden Huff for being the 3rd annual Big Tim Area Player Of The Year.
