#11 St Rita (Chicago) 59 #4 Brother Rice (Chicago) 51!!!!! News and notes December 9th, 2022!!!!

St Rita has played a tough schedule which is a lot of reason for their 3-3 record coming into the game. They heard a lot of overrated talk in the city as some folks think they do not deserve their high ranking. They showed tonight in a tough environment at Brother Rice coming out with a tough road victory. Here who go:

St Rita 59 Brother Rice 51: This Chicago Catholic League game was tight throughout most of the game. St Rita led 18 to 11 after one quarter even with standout junior forward James Brown on the bench with two fouls. Brother Rice rallied back in the second quarter behind senior point guard Ahmad Henderson II, a Niagara commit picking up his scoring. Brother Rice owned the boards in the first half against the bigger Mustangs. Things changed the start of the second half as the first play St Rita ran was a post up by junior forward Morez Johnson Jr, an Illinois commit who scored. As the second half wore on St Rita's size started taking it's toll with foul trouble on Brother Rice players. St Rita had a big rebounding advantage in the second half. It's not a coincidence Brown played most of the second half. He had 9 of his 11 rebounds in that half, and hit 5 of 6 free throws in the last minute of the game to salt the game away. The game was also punctuated by Brown catching a lob dunk from junior point guard Joseph Worthington-White. Brown finished with a double/double 10 points 11 rebounds. Johnson was consistent the entire game with 15 points 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Their other superstar junior Nojus Industraitis came alive tonight with 19 points. Henderson II was fantastic showing he could be the top guard in the state. He definitely has plenty of competition for that honor, but he kept his team in it with timely baskets from three and in the lane. He ended up with 26 points and 6 steals. No one else was in double figures for Brother Rice as St Rita's long athletes bothered shots from the other players. They challenged three point shots and made the shooters take a dribble and shoot the ball. This took the Brother Rice shooters out of their rhythm. St Rita ups it's record to 4-3, 2-0 in the league. Brother Rice drops to 8-1, 2-1 in the league.
